  • Jack Teams Up with ASCAP and Texas Heritage Songwriters' Association to Find the Next Great ...

    The Texas Heritage Songwriters' Association, in collaboration with country music artist Jack Ingram and The ASCAP Foundation, today launched Texas Songwriter U (TxSU). TxSU is an educational program and songwriting competition which serves to identify the best young adult songwriters in Texas, while improving upon the quality and quantity of professional songwriting across our state.

    Beginning today, September 15th, TxSU will accept submissions across all musical genres to its inaugural songwriting contest at texassongwriteru.com. Songwriters across Texas between the ages of 18 and 30 are invited to upload their two best songs for consideration. Music industry professionals will blindly rate each song, and the winning entry will receive the opportunity to open a show for Jack Ingram, a recording demo and more.

    Applicants must either have been born in Texas or currently reside within the state. These applicants cannot hold a current publishing agreement. Both self-publishing and co-written songs are accepted and the songwriter's uploaded songs may be performed by another voice talent. A $25 processing fee is required of all contest applicants. Winners will be announced November 1, 2014.

    MJ&M Event in Austin, Texas to Benefit Children’s Charities across the United States

    AUSTIN, Texas (March 18 2014) – Mack, Jack & McConaughey (MJ&M), the joint fundraising effort of actor Matthew McConaughey, recording artist Jack Ingram, and Texas coaching legend Mack Brown, announced today that Little Big Town will perform the Jack & Friends night on April 25, 2014 as part of MJ&M’s two-day event in Austin, Texas.

    Along with performances by Little Big Town and Jack Ingram, The Jack & Friends Concert will feature performances by Buddy Miller, Liz Rose, Lori McKenna, Bobby Pinson and more. Tickets are available to the public as of Friday, March 21 at 10 AM.

    “I am thrilled to share the stage with such a dynamic and talented group,” said Ingram. “With the talented line-up we have in store, it’s sure to be a night to remember.”

    Critically acclaimed country group, Little Big Town--consisting of members Karen Fairchild, Phillip Sweet, Kimberly Schlapman and Jimi Westbrook--first entered the music scene over 14 years ago with hits such as “Boondocks,” “Bring It On Home,” “Good As Gone,” and Grammy-nominated single “Little White Church.” The quartet’s fifth studio album, Tornado, debuted at the top of the Billboard Country Chart where it stayed in the #1 position for five consecutive weeks and recently received platinum certification with over 1 million copies sold. Collectively, the group has earned over 25 award show nominations and has taken home multiple awards including ACM Top New Vocal Group, CMA Single of the Year (“Pontoon”), CMA Vocal Group of the Year (2012 and 2013), a Grammy Award for Best Country Group/Duo Performance and an Emmy award. Little Big Town is currently working on their sixth studio album with producer Jay Joyce with an expected release date later this year.

    Jack Ingram has released eight studio albums, six live albums and 18 singles. In 2005 Ingram had the number one hit on the Billboard country charts with “Wherever You Are.” Ingram has sent six other songs into the country Top 40. In 2008 the Academy of Country Music honored Ingram with “Best New Male Vocalist.” Since 1997, Ingram has been celebrated by critics and fans of hard-core country music and as a Texas-born songwriter and performer, he’s been on the short list of next generation artists who could fill the boots of Lone Star legends like Willie and Waylon an d the boys.

    Buddy Miller is an award winning guitarist, songwriter, singer, record and music producer. He's produced records for Robert Plant, Patty Griffin, Emmylou Harris, Solomon Burke, Richard Thompson, The Wood Brothers and the Carolina Chocolate Drops. Miller has released nine studio albums of his own, both as a solo artist and with collaborators including his wife, singer-songwriter Julie Miller. He has toured with the likes of Harris, Steve Earle, Griffin, Shawn Colvin, Plant and Allison Krauss. Miller has a weekly radio show with Jim Lauderdale on SiriusXM Outlaw Country and is currently the Executive Music Producer for the ABC hit TV show “Nashville.”

    Liz Rose is a songwriter from Dallas. Liz has written and co-written hits by Taylor Swift, Gary Allan, Eli Young Band and many more.

    Lori McKenna is an American Folk Singer/ Songwriter who lives in Massachusetts with her husband and 5 children. Faith Hill, Tim McGraw, Carrie Underwood, Alison Krauss, Keith Urban and LeAnn Rimes are among the many that have recorded her songs in recent years. Her most recent album Massachusetts was released April 2013.

    Bobby Pinson is returning to the Jack and Friends line up for the 2nd year. Bobby is from Tulsa, Oklahoma and has written many songs for country artists including #1 hits for Sugarland and Toby Keith.

    Thursday April 24th MJ&M kicks off with the Gala, Live Auction, a special Jack Ingram performance followed by the sold-out Sheryl Crow headlining concert. On Friday April 25th, MJ&M will continue with the success of the Celebrity Classic Golf Tournament at Barton Creek Resort. Also on Friday is the Fashion Show with Badgley Mischka at Neiman Marcus followed by the Jack Ingram & Friends concert at ACL Live at The Moody Theater.

    Every year, MJ&M will support select non-profit organizations that share the principals’ goal to empower kids. Last year’s inaugural event raised nearly 1 million dollars and this year the funds raised through MJ&M will support The Rise School of Austin, just keep livin Foundation, HeartGift, CureDuchenne, and Grounded in Music.
